does anyone use almond oil on their face?? i heard a lot of good things abt jojoba oil and almond oil so i decided to buy the almond oil today )it was cheaper) it says its realy good for healthy skin and ive read good things about it...

does anyone use it? how is it? do you use it everyday?

Almond oil is a good moisturizer & will make your skin soft - but it probably doesn't have as many benefits as jojoba oil. It's used primarily as a massage oil. I've found that it doesn't work as well on my face as jojoba oil. Almond oil should be refrigerated after opening & has a shelf life of 6-12 months. Smell it every now & then to make sure it hasn't turned rancid.

Jojoba will balance oil production, unclog pores, & lift impurities. It has an indefinite shelf life & doesn't have to be refrigerated. It's very much like the sebum our skin produces naturally.

There are several places to buy jojoba oil online - it's fairly inexpensive - you can get 8 oz. for around $8-12.

Hazelnut oil is another oil that's good for the face. It's a little thinner than jojoba & has a slight astringent quality, so it's especially good for oily skin. I use a jojoba/hazelnut mix.

How does this using oil on your face work? Do you leave it on all night, or do you wash it off after a few minutes? I'm just wondering because I used some Vitamin E oil today for the first time and my face felt really greasy, so I ended up rinsing it off.

If it still feels greasy after 10 minutes, you're using too much oil.

I've never used just straight Vit. E oil, so I don't know how the consistency compares to jojoba, hazelnut, almond, evening primrose, or borage seed oil.

I only use 2-4 drops of oil (the size drop that would fall from a small eye-dropper) for my entire face/neck area. A couple of things you can do to make it easier to apply - you can apply while your face is still damp, or you can put the oil in your cupped hand & then add a few drops of water (I use distilled water), rub gently to mix, then apply. After about 10 minutes, the oil should be absorbed, but your skin should feel soft & smooth.

I apply the oil twice a day - morning & evening - I wash or rinse my face before applying the oil - not after.
