Moisturizers for dull skin?

Hi. I really need to know of a good moisturizer that's not too expensive (though if there's something out there that really works i'm willing to pay for it). My skin just seems dull and lifeless. I was wondering about Roc products, their Retin A line, I'm a bit scared of trying it though. Also any other brands and products. My skin used to always be a touch oily, which i loved, but lately it seems very dry and dull. I'd really appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Re: Moisturizers for dull skin?

Are you exfoliating at all? Because that's the best way to get rid of dull skin. I use the Dermanew home microdermabrasion machine with Aromaleigh microdermabrasion cream, but you can use the cream without the machine. You can also just use baking soda mixed in with a little liquid face cleanser. As far as a good moisturizer goes, I really like natural products, like jojoba oil, hazelnut oil, etc.

Re: Moisturizers for dull skin?

yes, i exfoliate with a face scrub about once a week, i havent noticed any real benefits from it to be honest and my skin is quite sensitive for the following day or two, i use the Clinique gentle scrub. I am a smoker and i think i'm finally paying for it and it's showing on my skin but i look at other women my age 30 who are smokters too and their skin doesnt look all drid up like mine. I have heard about jojoba oil and i think i will try it, everyone says it's excellent stuff. Does jojoba oil act just as a moisturizer or will it also deal with signs of aging such as lines and wrinkles? CAn i use it for my eye area?
Right now i'm using Olay's daily moisturizer with vitamin C and E, it's ok as it gives my skin the appearance of a bit of oil and sheen, but i don't notice that it really does anything benficial.

Re: Moisturizers for dull skin?

Hi there!

I'm a smoker too which of course caused more wrinkles for me, in addition to baking in the sun in my youth.

I tried the ROC products and in all honesty they didn't do a thing. But.... I have been using Neutrogena's Anti-wrinkle cream with retinol and Deep Clean Cream cleanser, along with their Deep Clean Gentle Scrub and I've been so impressed with the results. My wrinkles have diminished considerably and my skin tone has evened-out quite a bit. And it didn't cause any breakouts. The only thing is I'm 51 years old with very dry skin, so I have to use an additional moisturizer at night with the other products.

I've tried all the expensive products and nothing has given me results as much as the Neutrogena line. Hope this helps. Linda

I don't care for Clinique's products - they caused a lot of breakouts for me. It's quite possible that you need to exfoliate more often than once a week. And your skin didn't get dull overnight, so the dullness won't go away overnight either - you'll probably just see a gradual improvement.

Jojoba will balance oil production, soften the skin, help unclog pores, & MAY help with fine lines. For more benefits, you'd really need to add some essential oils. Aromaleigh makes some great products for the skin - I have some of theirs, and I also mix up some of my own.

I don't care for Oil of Olay products either (even though my dh works for P&G) - again with the breakouts. I've been using some of Skin Biology's products - specifically their Copper Peptide serum, Exfol serum, & emu oil. I've seen a big difference in my skin. With these products, you exfoliate the skin & then regenerate new, healthy skin.
