Straitening hard to control hair - need help!

I have a bad perm that is about over a year old. I am trying to straiten my hair. I have tried numerous things to straiten it, but it doesn't hold very long. My hair is also thick. So it looks puffy when done. Is there any good products, flat iron or techniques that I can do to achieve great strait hair?

If not is there a way I can do it curly that will acutally look decent! I can't just leave my hair natural cause its really frizzy but oily on top and not all parts of hair is strait!

Thanks!

Have you tried a ceramic flat iron? I have naturally curly hair and I've had mine for about a month and it makes it so silky and straight. What I do is clip my hair up, and let it down a little at a time, flat ironing little sections. It's like a dream come true for me! I bought the chi, but my sister bought one at Sally's for about $40 and she likes it. Also, using Biosilk Silk Therapy before flat ironing helps prevent damage. Good luck!

I would suggest asking somebody as Toni and Guy that question. They do FREE counseltations there. What you can do is use a condition after you shampoo your hair. Then blow dry it straight with a brush. Use the brush tightly to straighten your hair as your blow dry it in the directions that look best for you. Warning Do not comb it while blow drying. You must latch the comb on tight into a chunk of your hair and blow dry it straight as you move the comb threw the hair which will feel like you are yanking out or pulling hair. You hair will not fall out unless you are violent with the comb. But you can always ask somebody at a salon do teach you how to do it. Also after that if you want to get a ceramic straightening iron that would be a great idea. Those are very good but use a heat protecting solution or spray on your hair before .....but you need to ASK the people at the salon or products store for advice about the solutions. Some may be TOO greasy or too oily. So becareful. Good luck with your hair. IT does take patience so don't be too hard on yourself.

Hey.. hair masks could make your hair a whole lot softer and smoother, so it will be very pretty, not necessarily straight though. I've got pretty bad hair, but after i washed my hair and had a hair mask in it looks always so pretty and smooth. My favourite hair mask is Garnier Fructis INNOVATION. It's not so expensive but if you want a cheaper mask that works fine as well, I used to use Dove and I liked that one as well. The hair masks cost around 4 or 5 Euros which is 3 or 4 US Dollars, I think. Dove is maybe 1 Euro cheaper. I think there's enough in a bottle to use it 20 times or so, or more if you don't have a lot of hair. After you've used it your hair gets really easy, soft, smooth and flexible and for the final touch the next day when you're fixing your hair you should use two or three drops of Garnier Fructis ANTI-FRIZZ FORCE-CURE. Rub it in your hands and go with them through your hair. It's pretty oily, but you use so little your hair doesn't become greasy at all, trust me. If you use it every other day, I think there's enough in it to last a year. I've had mine since last year August and I use it twice a week or so, and I've used about 1/4th. It costs about the same price as the hair mask.
And if you really still do want straight hair, it will be easier to straighten when it's nice and soft, and it will look better/healthier as well.

What kind of flat iron do you use on your hair? If you really want to see a difference, it's worth investing in a ceramic iron. They are more expensive, but worth it. I use mine every day, also with a little Biosilk Silk Therapy. My hair has never looked so good! The key is gliding the iron down small sections at a time. I put all my hair up except a very thin bottom layer, then let it down layer by layer until I get to the top, then do any little minor touch-ups needed (usually to the front, where it's most damaged by the sun/bleach).
