You might want to read the post whose topic is
"Curly hair-want straight" - a few of us talked about straightening recently in this thread.
I don't know anything about Japanese straightening. I get my hair straightened & love it. It doesn't get frizzy in humid weather, only costs me about $50 and lasts however long a perm would last in your hair. Fortunately, my hair takes REALLY well to perms & holds them for months, so I only have to get my hair straightened a couple times a year.
