I wanna get my hair straightened....(chemically) - Beauty & Cosmetics Message Board

My hair is naturally wavy and very very thick... I've straightened it with a flatiron for about 3 years now and I also have to blowdry it because it is very long and takes too long to dry a lone...

I would really like to get my hair perminantly straightened and I know that can be quite pricey... I was just wondering if any one could offer advice, or share any experiances of their own so I can get an idea of what to get... I hear there are different kinds for different textures of hair. I've heard Japenese Straightening works very well. Just wondering also how long it lasts? Till it grows out I suspect?

Oh yes and one more question to those who have had chemically straightened hair- How is it in the humidity???

You might want to read the post whose topic is "Curly hair-want straight" - a few of us talked about straightening recently in this thread.

I don't know anything about Japanese straightening. I get my hair straightened & love it. It doesn't get frizzy in humid weather, only costs me about $50 and lasts however long a perm would last in your hair. Fortunately, my hair takes REALLY well to perms & holds them for months, so I only have to get my hair straightened a couple times a year.

It's just a play on words... I am also christian, I use the same user name for all forums its just easier to keep track taht way... sorry if it offends anyone..

*******'s angel, I have the same prob, my hair is thick and wavy. I love how it feels when I straighten it. It lasts like a perm would. It is a bit drying though. I did try the matrix stuff once I did it (all soft I believe) and it helped with the drying. The straightening made my hair thin out a bit which is what I needed..

By the way, not to be rude, this poster (meaning *******'s angel) was posting to ask a question about hair, not religion. Why can't we leave it at that. I could take offense at lots of things, but I don't. It is a free country you know. I am an aethesit and I am not offended at the Chrsitian remarks. Why can't people just stick to the original questions around here?
