Excessively oily hair, I have tried everything! HELP - Beauty & Cosmetics Message Board

I have had excessively oily hair for about 10 years now(I am 22), and I have tried shampoo that is for dry hair, shampoo for oily hair, extra volume, baby shampoo, shampooing every day, shampooing every other day, shampooing 3 times a week, I have tried EVERYthing, and I do not touch my hair frequently. I mean my hair is so bad that when I wake up in the morning I need to take another shower and wash my hair because overnight it has gotten oily. Also halfway through my 10 hour work day my hair becomes oily, I use no products in it either, can someone help?

prell is the strongest shampoo out there i've found, admittedly it is harsh but it does keep the oil away the longest. also make sure to not get any conditioner near or on your scalp.

There is a "dry shampoo" that I found at Walgreen's called "Psssst." (Kinda corney, huh?). I don't have extremely oily hair, but I use it when I don't feel like washing my hair some days. You just spray it on at the roots and underneath, fluff your hair, let it sit for a few minutes, and then brush it out. Actually, I hardly ever brush my hair but I just kind of massage the roots and fluff my hair with my fingers. You have to brush or massage thoroughly though, or it will leave a white residue. You could spray it on at night before bed and then brush it out in the AM. I would think you could even use it in the middle of the day as long as you were careful to brush or massage well afterwards. I've also heard that you should look for styling products (mousse, volumizer or hair spray) with SD alcohol in it, which prevents oil from accumulating.

I have oily hair too.. what helps is putting baby powder in your hair (when it gets oily). Put some in your hand and then rub it into the oily spots. It helps a lot. And when you rub it in, you cant see the white, lol.. dont worry, it wont look like you have dandruff or anything.. hope it works for you.

I will try the baby powder thing, I have never wanted to try it becuase I thought it would make my hair look white at the roots, I will try though, THANK YOU!
