What products will give me silky, yet manageable hair? I have thick, coarse hair that has to be straightened each day or I end up with a big mess. I've tried many shampoos and conditioners that promise to leave your hair so sleek and smooth that you can run your hands through it. Some work, but my hair is unmanageable and a bit frizzy. I'd like to wear my hair straight like I normally do, but be able to run my hands through it without messing it up. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I have naturally curly hair that I straighten as well... I have recently started using the new Dove shampoos and am impressed w/ the silkiness of my hair- whether I straighten it or leave it curly... I also use Keihl's Creme w/ Silk Groom on my ends.
I also will dry my hair curly, use a 1 and 1/2 barrel curling iron to pull most of the curl out of it and THEN run a flat iron over it... Takes a LITTLE more time, but the curling iron does less heat damage than the flat iron... Helps a bit w/ the dryness.

Aveda Custom Control works GREAT on your ends if you want to do a really choppy / textured look, or a teeny bit over frizzies smooths!

Treseme shampoo and conditioner works pretty good also.

I use the new Dove shampoo and conditioner in Intense Moisture and I think it's one of the best products I've ever used. I also use Fudge shampoo and conditioner, which are also very good. What I do quite often is wash my hair with conditioner only, no shampoo, and my hair is very silky and soft, no frizziness or flyaways, and I have naturally curly hair that tends to frizz a bit. Using only conditioner to wash your hair and no shampoo leaves it very soft. I don't use any styling products on my hair so I don't have any buildup to worry about washing out, but someone else on here said she uses only conditioner too, and also uses quite a few styling products, and her hair comes out clean. You may want to try this and see how it works for you.

Paul Mitchell's Hair Repair conditioning treatment works wonders on my thick, frizzy, curly hair. It's a bit pricey - but DEFINITLY worth it.
