I drench my sponge in warm water, add my shampoo or my regular face wash, lather up and rinse! If it doesn't look clean enough I toss it (make-up sponges, even good ones are cheap)...I do the same with my brushes. I only wash my sponge once or twice before tossing it in the trash though.
