White skin, want a tan!

Hi everyone, i have really white skin compared to the normal person, and when im in rooms with light coming in i look stupid!

I hardly go on holiday, so i dont have the ability to top up on a tan, but even when i do i only tan enough to look normally tanned like everyone else.

What can i do to get and keep a tan without looking like an orange?

Thanks.

Re: White skin, want a tan!

Have you tried Jergens "Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer" in "Fair"?
It is very light and gradually builds up ... so you don't go from super pale to florescent orange / dark brown overnight.

If you use it everyday, it only builds up after a week. And even then, you'll look more like you have a real tan (i.e. not orange or fake dark brown). It's very normal / natural looking and virtually impossible to streak.

Here's what it says on the bottle:
"Designed specifically for fair skin tones, Jergens natural glow daily moisturizer delivers the optimum amount of colour to even out and enrich the appearance of your skin."

I use it year round and have to agree with the description. And don't worry, even though it says "glow" it's not shiny or anything! I think "glow" just means subtle colour / light tan as opposed to a dark fake tan.

I ditto the Jergen's Natural Glow! It is a very nice lotion and doesn't make you look like your orange and have a faux tan. Not very expensive either. It was so popular last summer, that I couldn't get any except on ****. I bought four tubes!

Re: White skin, want a tan!

The thing is though, im male, and i wouldnt really like to rub in cream that would look stupid on a guy?

What else do you think i could do? I would like to have a full body tan not just one to rub in on arms and face you know!?

Re: White skin, want a tan!

I think Jergens is fine for a guy -- because it doesn't look like faux-tan. It's not actually a color -- it's a non-colored cream that you would put on before going to bed, it works overnight and then you have color in the morning. Just shower and you're ready to go. It's not make-up (just in case that's what you're thinking)

However, if you really don't want to use a self-tanning cream, you could try going to a tanning salon and getting a spray on tan. It's the same idea as the Jergens, only you go into a booth (like a shower stall) and little nozzles spray you with a mist of tanning solution (it takes literally 20-30 seconds). You go home, wait 8 hours, shower and then you've got a tan. The spray on lasts about a week. You tell them what shade you want, so you could ask for the lightest available so that you don't look like an orange.

I've used both, and I personally think that the Jergens is more natural. No one knows that it's not my natural color (I'm pretty pale naturally too). Also - you can use the Jergens on your whole body. It's not just for face / arms.

Fore sure I wouldn't go into a tanning bed if you're really pale. In my experience, it just causes a burn (or a least a red tint) ... not to mention cancer!

Hope that helps
