Dove Shampoo Therapy

This is gonna be long but I need opinions.

My hair has been going insane recently. I really don't know why or what caused this.
I used to have really nice hair that was always pretty smooth and easily manageable no matter what kind of shampoo/conditioner (even hairdye) I used. Cheap or expensive, all product worked so well with my hair. Even blow drying without any type of heat protectants didn't result in weak hair or split ends... except the occasional stuff that happen naturally probably from brushing and everything. I never had to trim my hair that often.

Well, recently my hair has turned horrible. I haven't done anything different to it. In fact I hadn't dyed it in over a year, I've been using shampoos/conditioners that work well with my hair (Loreal Fructis, Aussie, Tressemme... all worked great). I've even trimmed it more frequently to make sure it's healthier and brush/wash it less frequently so I don't cause more damage from different brushes and blow drying.
I eat better, drink more water, and take vitamins (which I never did before). You'd think that after all those improvements my hair would be healthier... well it's WORSE. It's terribly dry and I get split ends soo much I have to trim my hair like every two weeks (which is sad because I've been growing it out for 4 years and it was so nice and long).

So after trying overnight conditioning, different homemade tips and tricks, new shampoos, etc I see absolutely no difference... the damage keeps showing up.
I don't have the money to but super expensive $20 shampoos and conditioners to save my hair.
It would be super depressing to have to cut it off because of damage.

Well, after researching different cheaper brand shampoos I came upon the new Dove Shampoo Therapy for severely damaged and dry hair.

So I'm wondering if anyone has tried this product? I want to buy it and try it out but don't want it to be a waste of money like everything else.
I looked it up online and found only one review on another website. According to the person who reviewed it, the shampoo is supposed to be amazing, work wonders, and is just as good as the expensive professional stuff like Nexxus/Paul Mitchell, etcetc.

Has anyone tried this yet? Is it any good? Should I bother getting it as the final attempt to save my hair?
Thanks!

Re: Dove Shampoo Therapy

Ahh I would really like to know too! My hair has kind of been the same.. but it happened after a bad highlight job. It looked GREAT but my hair got weak from it. I've tried the mayonaise tricks and olive oil.. and it's so strange b/c it makes my hair feel VERY dry once it's in.. and the same after it's out.

The one product that makes my hair feel soft is Biosilk Silk Therapy, but I know that is something that just washes out. I just wouldn't try hot oil treamtments b/c those never work for me even! I think those after-color conditioners that come in hair dye boxes are really great.. you can pick some up at Sally's. I need to get some, in fact!

Also, this is another thing that I know for sure will help, but I'm not sure if you would want to. Using a semi-permanent dye makes your hair healthier since it's coating the outside. Doing it a little darker is best for this to work. I dyed mine a little darker than my natural color and my hair was SO silky and soft and never tangled.. and the color was really nice! I wish it were still like that.. but unfortunately I'm doing a lighter look for now.

I may try out the Dove Therapy products after I run out of my shampoo/conditioner now. I am using Pantene Restoratives for breakage shampoo and it seems pretty good, but I was using a different conditioner.. but I heard the conditioner works really well. I used to always use Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine and loved that stuff! I even used Dove at one point and liked it.. so it may be worth a try for the new stuff!

Re: Dove Shampoo Therapy

I just bought Dove Therapy conditioner and wowww.. it was great! I'd really recommend it. I don't have the shampoo since I still have tons of shampoo and want to wait till I use it up since I always end up with way too many hair products, but I may have to buy it anyway. My hair felt really great and soft afterwards and less tangly. I've use a lot of conditioning treatments and I think this stuff is better than so many of those!

Re: Dove Shampoo Therapy

There are lots of reasons why you are having a problem with your hair...hard water, medication, stress, hormones, diabetes, etc. I am a cosmetologist and the best thing I can recommend to help get your hair in great condition is to find a professional shampoo and conditioner and stick with it. Try using a product called kolesterol from a beauty supply, apply to damp hair and sleep in it. Cover with a towel or a plastic cap. You can do this once or twice a week. The kolesterol is very cheap but a very conditioning product. You age has a lot to do with your hair to. You may have had nice hair when you're younger but it usually becomes drier and more uncontrollable when you get older. Try talking prenatal vitamins this is another good thing for your hair. Instead of washing your hair everyday (which tends to strip it) wash it one day then the next instead of shampooing, just wet in the shower and add conditioner then rinse and style as usual. If you will be faithful about your routine it will work.

Re: Dove Shampoo Therapy

I have had the same problem with my hair and found out I am hypothyroid. I was under a lot of stress and started getting sick, and guess I activated thyroid antibodies or something. Well, I'm on Synthroid and have noticed my hair is getting better. We have well water (treated) and my hair gets REALLY bad so I have to get clarifying treatments at the salon.
My sister's hair got crappy when she was really stressed out and tired.
I like their new leave-in treatments but haven't tried the new shampoos, conditioners, and deep treatment but have heard they're good.
