The terrible aftermark of Stage Makeup- Help - Beauty & Cosmetics Message Board

Because i am heavily involved in a number of theatre productions throughout the year, i have to wear stage makeup (very heavy/ thick foundation) for sometimes more then 3 weeks at a time. As a result of this, my skin breaks out in pimples, and goes all red, blotchy and irritiated. In some places it gets olly and in other places it gets very dry. I always remove my makeup after my performence with wipes and i use a gentle sensitive cleanser morning and night. What else can i do? Can anyone suggest some creams or home remedies to help me?

instead of stage makeup, try using Mary Kay products trust me, it covers and conceals like a makeup but acts as basic skincare. I have had problems with my skin, but I used it on prom night, I even slept in it. You know after you wear makeup, the next day you have a little spot on your skin that you know will blossom into a pimple,it didn't feel a thing the next morning. For minor acne, i have used Pro Activ, and were thrilled with the results. Pro activ can be harsh on the skin so i suggest only using it if you have no more than 15 pimples. there is a trial-sized kit that u can order from the company for $29.95. do not use ay over the counter products containing Benzoyl Peroxide. sometimes it can only irritate the skin more.

I'd try using the aspirin mask and/or a moisturizer with salicylic acid to help keep the pores cleaned out. And aloe vera gel is great for soothing irritated skin.

I don't get why foundation should have to be heavy just because you are on stage if you otherwise have good skin. Unless of course, you are totally altering your skin color.
