epilator advice

hi, I'm wondering if anyone here has experience with epilators? I just bought the emjoi gently gold caress because it got good reviews for the price. I absolutely hate shaving and my hair tends to grow back really quickly so it seemed like a good option for me. However, it hurts like the dickens!!!! The first time I used it, it only got about 2/3 of the hair out and it left my skin very inflamed... I couldn't finish because it got so unbearable. I tried to follow up the next day to get the rest of the hair out, but quickly gave up because of the pain. When I tried it on my underarms I immediately gave up because it was so bad. I know it supposedly hurts a lot more when you first start out, but I'm surprised by how bad this is and I'm afraid it won't work for me. Has anyone had similar experiences? Does it really get better if you just stick with it? I really want this to work...

Re: epilator advice

I've read that it hurts less the more you use it. I bought a $125 epilator because of some good reviews. It didnt really hurt THAT much (I have a very high pain tolerance) but it also didn't seem to work any better than a regular razor. The hair grew back just as fast; in fact, I think a plain razor works better than the epilator did for me. I hope you have better luck.

Re: epilator advice

I know exactly what you are feeling, the first time I used mine I had to take breaks and even bite down on something, but I got through it and the second time it still hurt but its more bearable. I dont think the pain will ever go away but you just get used to it. I think if you make sure your skin is exfoliated it will help, and make sure you didnt just put lotion on cause then it will tug at your skin, I dont recommend using it anywhere but your legs. Good luck

Re: epilator advice

i use one on my arms and have done so for years. It definately hurts less with time. I don't really find it all that uncomfortable anymore, and I only have to do it once a month or so. the hair grows back less and less, and is finer. I rub bactine all over my arms when done though. If I don't do this, I get pimple-like bumps and have to hide my arms for days. With the bactine I get no bumps.
