My problem: I have naturally curly/wavy hair and I live in the south. Some days when I don't feel like dealing with it or when it is rainy, I just leave it curly. But today it is not raining, just humid as always. I semi-straightened it and three hours later it is looking like i just woke up! It is fluffy and frizzy and driving me nuts! Anyone have good suggestions for dealing with hair that seems to fly away in humidity?
I'm with you on that! I'm in South Carolina and it is sooooooooo hot here! My only solution in the summer is to keep it up in a clip on top of my head. It's really cute though. What I do every morning (I have very long hair) is dampen my hair just a bit, pull it all back and twist it up (kind of like a french twist). Then I use a big hair "claw" to keep it up. I still have wispy bangs across my forhead and I just spray them with hairspray and they stay put. Then I spray hair gel on both sides to keep the frizz away! It really does work great! A "curly girl's" best friend in the heat is spray gel and a clip! I use Clairol Herbal Essences Spray Gel.....it smells and works great!! Hope this helps! matrix makes this stuff called smoothing serum. you rub about a dime size amount on the ends of your hair and it really makes the frizz gone. i have naturally curly hair that is thick! i have to get it thinned out every 4-6 weeks. i love matrix's products, especially this one!
Thanks for the tips, girls. I love the way Herbal Essence products smell. I have tried their mousse, but not the gel. The mousse made my hair a little static-y so I have stopped using it, but I think the gel would be different. I will have to try it out.
I am not familiar with the matrix products. Can you get them in the store (like Target or somewhere like that) or do you have to get them from a salon?
Oh, by the way I live in Georgia, and our weather is just as bad as SC. Hot and humid!
I live in Georgia too! But I get perms to make my hair curly. Wish I was born with curly hair but we all wish for the opposite of what we have. The humidity makes my straight hair just flatten and go limp and I can't do anything with it except put it in a ponytail or tie it up. A perm helps with body and volume for my hair. I use John Frieda's Frizz Ease. Just a few small spritz do wonders. It gives a great shine and keeps the curls looking nice all day even in the humidity. I started using it about 2 months ago and people are always saying how nice my hair looks now.
