to smooth out my face before using foundation. I have finally found a foundation that does not break me out. Now I need a primer to even out the skin surface before using it.

I highly recommend the Laura Mercier primer. I've used it since it came out. It does not make me break out, and I have very acne prone skin.

does it smooth out your skin so that you don't see a ruddy complexion after applying foundation? I don't have huge ruts, but I do see some where I have had alot of acne in the past.

I was looking at the Smashbox and the bare escentuals primer.. not sure which one to go with. I really don't want to buy it and hate it.

Benefit's Dr. Feel Good is pretty awesome! They have it at Sephora so you can try it out.. OR go to a Benefit stand in a department store and they will give you a free mini makeover and you can see how it works. It mattifies but also moisturizes dry spots, and makes your skin SO smooth and soft. I haven't bought it, but I definitely want to sometime.

Ok so this may sound a bit bizarre but what a lot of people are using for a primer is monistat chafing gel. It has the same main ingredients as smashbox and some of the other primers but it is only about $7-$8. It works really well fills in lines and keeps oiliness down some.
