Help!! How do I get this off of my makeup brushes?? - Beauty & Cosmetics Message Board

I went on vacation for a night and when I got home and unpacked my stuff i realized that my hair oil/sheen had opened onto my makeup brushes in my toiletry bag and totally SOAKED into them! they're very expensive and I don't want to have to buy new ones, but nothing I try to clean them with gets this stuff out! i've used soap, vinegar, and hot water and they're still the same. i know it shouldn'tve been in there with them but i just wasn't thinking!! do you have any ideas as to how i can clean them??

Have you tried a dishwashing liquid? Like Dawn? They dissolve all sorts of grease, and I seem to remember some being used to wash birds who were covered in oil after certain oil spills on the ocean...could be gentle enough for the hairs on the brushes. Just a thought!

A second on the dish liquid...should get it off easily!
