Any tips for taming it down? I hate having to use my flat iron all the time.

I had the same problem, had to use flat iron all the time and it took me up to an hour.
So last weekend I decided to get permanent hair straightening done. I read so much about it. From Super to it will kill your hair.
But I got it done
And Girl, I love it. They are straight and i washed them yesterday and just dried them with a blowdryer and they are straight again as I straightened them with a flat iron.
I can really recommend it.
Only though I had a lot of colour so the salon guy already told me it might can damage my hair. But my colour (I have black) just faded 1-2shades lighter and my ends were kind of damaged-but I got a cut done afterwards.

My hair félt dry the next two days, because I wasn´t allowed to wash it. But the first time I washed it and used deep conditioner and leave in moisteruizer - my hair is so soft.

I can really recommend it if you have to use flat iron all the time.
By the way I can still use a curling iron or any kind of tools with my hair- if a hairstyle is desired.

Thanks! I know a few people who had this done and I am a little skeptical about it (the one had frizzy type roots grow in fast) but we will see. I am just sick of having to sit there for 30-40 min w/ a flat iron whenever i want my hair to look decent, so half the time i just put it in a ponytail! sigh.

I have super thick hair,my hairdressers all charged extra because of it. The key is good layers, I have long layers that give the impression of having less hair. The hairdresser also uses this razor type thing to make smaller layers. I'm not sure what its called but your hairdresser should know. I've also been using this product called citre shine that helps tremendously with flyaways. But the best advice I can give you is embrace your thick hair. Girls with thin hair can't do anything with it, our hair looks so much better once its tamed.

I also get long layers and have my hair thinned out at the bottom. It helps takes out a lot of the bulk. Also after washing>blowdrying>straightening my hair I follow up with Bumble & Bumble's Shine Spray.. It works really good at making my hair feel shiny and soft, and not greasy like most other products.
