Is it just me or does anyone else come out horrible in pictures. Is this the way I really look or does it have to do with the lens on the camera. I look so damn good in the mirror but in pictures I come out horrible!!

I don't know. Some people just turn out bad in pictures. Maybe it's the lens on the camera. Sometimes your skin looks paler or whatever. Or maybe it's because of a phoney smile. I've always wondered that. Who knows?

I know what you mean. There was a discussion on this before. Long story short---I was going to be a roomate with this girl when I was living in NYC several years ago. She was tall, thin, had great bone structure, light complected, had long pretty brunette hair, but was NOT at all attractive in person. BUT, turns out, she's a runway model. She showed me her portfolio---she looked extremely gorgeous in the pictures. But in person, she was rather bland and plain. In fact, some of her girlfriends were at her apt when I went to meet her and they were models too and looked very plain in person as well.

As for me, I'm not ugly, but pictures and camers do NOT like me!!! LOL I'm very expressive--facial expressive and the camera sure likes to capture my expressions. My husband has a poker face all the time and he always looks super great in pictures. Go figure.

lol thanks for the posts I feel better now. Ya I try not to smile in pictures cause' my pictures come out bad enough as it is. Have u ever heard that saying the camera puts on an extra 10 lbs. I'm starting to wonder if thats true. I'm not ugly but pictures just don't like me at all. Sometimes I can't stop looking in the mirror cause' I look so good in it. But cameras.. jeez put that thing away.

o and acuaticChick, ya I wrote that as a joke.. glad u caught it I was hoping someone would get a laugh out of that.

I agee with Infinitum; I am very expressive, and you can tell that I am looking somewhere else, twisting my mouth, looking angry, anything but posed for a photo. When I started dating my now-husband, he photographed wonderfully and I always looked like a comedienne with a goofy face! I really ruined many frameable photos. He stops, stares directly at the photographer (amateur or professional) and smiles. My youngest son is the same way...usually everyone has a dorky elementary photo...not him, he looks like an angel. I started noticing what people in my husband's family did to be photogenic and they stop and pose for the picture. I decided that I would practice this a bit, and it has helped. I can "pose" at home with my family, but I do feel a bit self-conscious around others and sometimes get caught with a smirk, or eye-roll. Practice with digital camera; then you can delete the goofy ones!
