Upper lip hair

Is is safe to remove upper lip hairs and what is the best thing to use. I am afraid it will grow back like a mans. Any ideas?

I usually bleach it.

Re: Upper lip hair

Being Greek I have had to wax my upper lip since I was like 14. I am 30 now and the hair has thinned out so much that I hardly do it anymore. Its safe and super easy to do at home. I would suggest having it done at first to get the hang of it and then just try at home.

Re: Upper lip hair

I use the Sally's Hansen hair remover lotion on mine. I've tried waxing and my skin is so dern sensitive my upper lip broke out and I had lovely bumps for about 10 days. Hopefully you won't have this problem but if you do have sensitive skin try the lotion.

And no.....your hair does not grow back in like a mans, thank goodness!!

Re: Upper lip hair

I've read time & again that if you can live with them, then leave them alone. Once you start messing with them, its a lifelong struggle. I finally got fed up with the stray ones near the corners of my mouth and I just tweeze them off.

Re: Upper lip hair/chin hairs

What about chin hairs. I'm over 50 and started noticing long dark chin hairs. Once I started plucking a few, I must have grabbed a few more and now I have several growing back darker. I tried to bleach them but they are too dark and the bleach won't take. Any suggestions on a bleach that will cover them?

Darn hormones.... hehe

Re: Upper lip hair/chin hairs

Bleach will only make them more visable. Wax if you can. If not just tweeze away.

Re: Upper lip hair

There was a girl at work that used the shave her chin hairs. If she missed a few days, her chin would like like a mans regrowth (stubble). If this is so, than why wouldn't waxing or using hair removal problems not produce the same results?

Still skeptical.....

Re: Upper lip hair

When you shave...you are cutting the hair off blunt at skin level. When you wax the hair you are pulling it out at the root, this can actually kill the root over time and the hair sometimes just never comes back. As far as those hair removal creams...they just basically melt the hair away is what they do. The product eats up the hair and it's not going to be quit as blunt growing back as shaving it. Bleaching is OK if you have a few dark hairs but for heavy hair growth, all it's going to do is make you have a blonde mustache.

But what do you do in between "sessions". Do you have to grow it in order to be able to wax it? How do you stand to let it grow?

Re: Upper lip hair

I tried waxing and it always leaves my face red, broken out, and irratated. I tried delipitory cream and it made me red and dry. The only thing that really works with minimal irratation is tweezing but it takes a little longer. I suggest using a flat head tweezer not a slanted one.

Re: Upper lip hair

You pluck your upper lip hairs? OUCH!

Eye brows are one thing but that's gotta hurt.

Re: Upper lip hair

Try facial threading.. I have been doing my entire face . I go about every 3 months. I have been very pleased with the results.

Re: Upper lip hair

Oh gosh just pluck them out as you see them. Women of all ages have stray long hairs like that. I've had them all my life and plucking them is just part of getting ready for the day. Of course they grow back but it is an old wives tale that if you shave the hair or pluck the hair it will grow back thicker. It will grow back to just what it was in the first place. you can't change what is under the skin by shaving...it is what it is. I have been shaving the long fuzz off my chin for 40 years and it still grows in as fuzz. I also have stray long black hairs that I pluck...my daughters in their 30's have them. We all have them and we just pluck them. Who wants to look at someone with a big ole black hair sticking out their face. And as you grow older you may need to clip your nose hair too as they might hang out of your nose. (you'll need a sense of humor). My husband has hairs growing on top of his nose so he plucks them as he sees them. It is all pretty common and normal to just pluck them out. Nothing you do on top of the skin is going to affect what is going to happen or not happen. You are already programed for what is and what is to come.

Re: Upper lip hair

I have to say though that when I pluck them, they do grow back darker. When I started out there were only two. Because I accidentaly plucked a few that were fine, they grew long too and darker.

Re: Upper lip hair

If you are getting more dark hairs it has nothing to do with the fact that they are being plucked and everything to do with just getting more dark hairs. They have to start sometime.
