Cool How do you keep your tan?

It's a really bad news for most of us... Summer is about to finish and our holiday skin will soon look less "good" if we don't do something!!

Does anyone have tips on how to keep a tan in the city? I know there are many options but can't decide which one is the best... Any suggestions?

Jane Xx

Re: How do you keep your tan?

FairyJane,

I could give you some simple tips if you lived in my city (San Diego California), but I notice you are in London! I have a few minutes of exposure everyday, and my tan holds, but our climate is still very sunny and warm until December/January. I avoid too much sun, as it has negative longterm effects. I get my sun out in my yard, during gardening.

That leaves tanning products, which i don't know much about, spray tans, and tanning beds. I would never choose a tanning bed, due to the risk of cancer.

I hope you get some more helpful responses...

Re: How do you keep your tan?

I have been using sunless tanners! I used to go to tanning beds for a short period of time and am very lucky to have healthy skin without much damage, and I chose to stop for the sake of my skin. I didn't want to get leathery skin with wrinkles later on in life from tanning so much! I definitely wear sunscreen now and I moisturize my skin when it gets dry to keep it soft and healthy.

Right now I'm using Neutrogena Micromist airbrush tanning spray. There are many others I like, but this one just seems the quickest for me to use. I use my regular body lotion (I like the scent of it, so I like to use my regular one!) and then I lightly use the airbrush tan spray. I don't use much, so it's a very light tan. If I want darker results, I just spray on a little more. It comes on very even and looks nice, doesn't wear off on my clothes. I like some of the lotions and creams, but I find that the spray is fast and easy. Since I don't spray much, the smell isn't strong at all either.

Definitely give sunless tanners a try! Many of them are pretty good, unlike in the past when many turned you orange!!

Re: How do you keep your tan?

You can't keep your real tan. It is made of dead skin cells that will eventually slough off. I am losing my summer vacation tan, and I am now using Jergen's Natural Glow moisturizer. It's not an orangy fake tan like others, but it is just enough to give my skin that sun-kissed glow.
