Hello Belly Kelly, i have a similar problem ( minus the large pores) and i swear by proactive solution. I have been using it for about 10 years on and off, but i always go back to it. I think i can find something cheaper and it works for like 5 minutes but the bumps return so now i only use proactive. For the oily skin which is my main problem now that i have the bumps and slight acne under control i really love Queen Helene Mint Jullepe face mask which is like totally cheap and you canget at any drug store, walmart or target. I hope this hepls.
Hi there! Do you exfoliate at all? My skin is combination, and I know it gets a little bumpy if I don't exfoliate. I still get oily in some parts and break out easily if I am not careful with taking care of my skin, yet I seem to get a lot of dead skin cells that clog up my pores and make my skin feel rougher and bumpy. I use Mary Kay's microdermabrasion kit twice a week and I love it. It really helps make my skin soft and smooth and prevents clogged pores. I also use a cleanser with alpha hydroxy acid every now and then when my skin is acting up. It really helps get rid of the dead skin cells and makes my skin feel smooth and fresh. I have the cream cleanser by Neutrogena Stress Acne Control.
I also like the Queen Helene Mint Julep mask Rosebud80 mentioned. It's very refreshing and helps clear up acne. I'm not sure if it helps exfoliate much, but I think many masks can help your face smoother with regular use.
Hi and thanks for the responses. Yes, I do exfoliate a few times a week (even have used the Mary Kay microdermabrasion). Maybe I should try proactive. Some of the bumps are on the surface while others are under the skin - like a pimple that doesn't erupt. They seem to get worse when I sweat and the weather gets warm.
turrra - could you tell me the product you use that has alpha hydroxy? I am going to pick up the Queen Helene product. I do use the Mary Kay mask, but not religiously.
Perhaps they are almost like white heads that just don't surface! The alpha hydroxy products are use are from the Neutrogena Stress Acne line. They have a cream face wash with AHA (I don't think the foaming version has AHA- but it will say on the back of the tube) and so does the scrub. I find that the AHA often works better than a grainy exfoliating product. It's also very refreshing and feels a little like the Queen Helen mint mask since it's a bit cooling. I remember using a glycolic acid peel once, but I can not remember the name of the product! I remember that it worked really well though. I got a sample of it at Kohl's, so perhaps I can find it again if they still have it. It was a little pad with product that you apply on your face (avoiding the eye area), and then a second pad you apply after waiting a little bit to neutralize the formula. I had tricky acne at the time that didn't want to go away and this product seemed to help! I think the AHA works similar for keeping the skin smooth and clear (and bump free!), but was a little more gentle than the glycolic acid products.
Well, I am not sure they are like whiteheads since I do get them at times and know what they are like. I picked up some Neutrogena toner and am using my Mary Kay mask more.
It seems when the whether gets warm and humid, and I start to sweat, then the bumps get worse. You see it more in the light than anywhere else.
I never tried an acid peel. What is that supposed to do? It seems there are soooooo many things out there now and I am so behind. I used to wash, tone and moisturize. Now I have to use an acid peel and scrub. Wow, beauty is a lot of work, huh?
