straight hair, can't keep curl

I have a really hard time getting my straight hair to hold curl longer than an hour even with ridiculous amounts of hairspray. What can I do??

Re: straight hair, can't keep curl

Some people's hair is just like that.My sister is the same way.Her hair is so soft and straight if she curls it,it's straight again in an hour.
You could try using mousse, which sometimes helps hair hold styles better.
Honestly, the only things I have known to work though are chemically altering the hair.Coloring it to change the texture,or perming it.

You could try doing a wet set with hair rollers; either sleep in them overnight (kind of uncomfortable though) or for better results leave them in under a hair dryer with medium to high heat setting. Put on a plastic cap to protect the hair and be sure to use a setting lotion. When hair is completely dry, remove the rollers and finger comb hair (brushing will reduce the curls). Use a small barrel roller for tighter curls or a large barrel for looser curls.

Re: straight hair, can't keep curl

I have very fine straight hair. I have the same problem and have tried everything......Grrrrrrrrr.
Live in high humidityand hair falls in less then one hour! BUT.....
I found a hairspray that doesn't leave hair stiff and holds the curl the best of anything I have ever tried.
Pantene Style Classic Hairspray!!!! I buy it at Walmart as it is expensieve and cheaper there.
Hope this helps, I had looked it up on line and found it. Now they are changing the cans and colors so Not sure what they are doing.
Don't buy anything you see on Tv programs like that Chavez stuff..nope it is all BS.
Good luck hope this helps you....

Re: straight hair, can't keep curl

I invested in a curling wand, which is fairly new in the US. My hair is fine, thin & limp and it works beautifully!

Curling irons do not even compare. Even when the curls loosen, it leaves a beach wave type of look.
