Mole removal

Hello. I have what I believe to be a mole on a rather embarrassing part of my body. I've had it for as long as I can remember. I've decided that I just can't live with it any longer as it get irritated easily and is rather embarrassing to have.

I have a couple questions:

1.) Can anybody confirm that this is even a mole? < edited >

2.) I've seen some at home treatments, both commercial and homemade. I also know that surgery is an option. Do the at home treatments actually work? Should I just go for the surgery? How much does surgery normally run?

Re: Mole removal

I'd see a dermatologist for removal. Not knowing what it looks like, a regular mole of no consequence can be scraped off easily without leaving a scar.

Re: Mole removal

A dermatologist can remove them for about 60-100 dollars. They stick a needle into the mole to numb it (which does hurt some) Then, once the mole is numb, they slice it off.
It is a pretty quick procedure. No surgery needed.
