Question Tattoo-infection/allergy?

I just got my 3rd tattoo on my lower leg and it's burning and sore which I'm sure is normal. I'm just wondering what I would look for if it were to get infected or what symptoms if I were to allergic to the ink? It supposed to be pink but it's red.

Re: Tattoo-infection/allergy?

If you are infected, it would be bright red around outside ring of tattoo and very sore. If you are allergic to ink, the tattoo would be raised w/out being too red (other than normal healing) and very itchy. I'm allergic to black ink, and my tattoo is still raised a year later. They say there's nothing to do for it, just no more black ink. Hope that helps!

Re: Tattoo-infection/allergy?

Get some Aquaphor and use it a few times a day. Wash the area first with mild soap and water, preferably the liquid pink soap. Don't use Neosporin or polysporin. Don't use anything except soap, water, and Aquaphor (the brand). I speak from experience!
