When I woke up 4 days ago, I realized part of my lower lip was numb? I couldn't imagine what the problem was. I figured it would go away with time. Well, it hasn't and it has seemed to cover more area of my lower lip. Please tell me what you think. I've researched causes for this, but have been unable to find anything.
have you seen a dr for this? i would. do you smoke? (if yes, could be coradid artery is getting gummed up) is anything other than your lip numb. any other part of one side of your face? (lyme disease can cause bells palsey). i am just thinking of the things i know about, and am not meaning to scare you in any way. but i would go to dr about this.
well, I just got back from the DR. and he said it wasn't Bell's Palsy and he wasn't sure what was causing it. I told him that I drank heavily the night before and he said it could be from the alcohol. He told me to take B1 complex vitamins for three days and see if it gets better. If it doesn't then he wants me to see a Neurologist. I really don't think it's from the alcohol, but I guess we'll have to see if the vitamins work.
I have this problem when my iron levels are low (I suffer from anemia)I also have had Bells Palsy-not from Lyme disease, never actually found out what caused it- but when I had the first effects of bells Palsey it felt differently than the numbness I get now. One other time my lower lip went numb was because I slept on it wrong and actually had been applying pressure on it all night long! I must have been tired because I didn't wake up all night! Anyway I hope you find out the cause-when it happens to me it usually isn't painful but it is uncomfortable as I find myself touching it all day long because it feels wierd!
