I had bells palsey several years ago. mine was caused by lyme disease. Is your friend being treated? how is he/she being treated? when did the bells palsey start? it is my understanding, it started on presnizone within 3 days, this helps a great deal in recovering almost completely with no signs later.
mine lasted 7 weeks, and yes, it is an awful thing. so hard when one side of your face won't move. now, you can't even tell i had it.
your friend needs to use a paper tape to tape the eye shut at night when sleeping, and use fake tears. this keeps the eye lubricated and don't want the eye to get an ulcer.
