Question Strange one sided symptoms...help

Well I have posted to a few boards now because my symptoms seem to be spreading all over my body...now it is in my head so any help would be appreciated.

Started about a month ago with neck pain going down arms...had MRI of cervical spine and they said it was fine except loss of curve in neck.

Then about a week ago I got a charlie horse in my right foot and started going up my leg so now my whole leg hurts and burns. Went to the doctor and she said it seems muscular.

NOW...yesterday my head started to feel funny on the right side. I have a spot on the back of my head that feels like pressure and burning and my right eye is blurry and hurts. I have also had some buring in my face and my hand on my right side in starting to cramp up now also.

Could all of this be coming from something in my brain? I just think it is strange it is all on one side of my body and the symptoms seem to be spreading.

HELP PLEASE IF YOU CAN....Thanks everyone!!!

Re: Strange one sided symptoms...help

Hi lsmith1.....hmmm that could be one of several things.First of all I think your dr. should definitely have you get a brain MRI.Yes problems with your right side could very well be brain rlated.Maybe MS,Chiari or something not as serious.Don't start worrying about it just ask your dr. to order you an MRI...that way they can either DX you with something or rule out some things. Most neurologists would be doing a brain MRI with the sym, ptoms you are presenting.

Well that is good news that your c-spine MRI was normal.Never heard of the curve thing though.

Try to relax..you don't need to tense up if you're having muscle spasms or contractions.

Seeing it's only on one side would make me think your dr. would be concerned about that.

If your dr. won't order you a brain MRI then I'd look for one that will listen to you and not just write it off as "something muscular"...it's your health and you to need to get this checked so you can have some peace of mind and know what is going on.

Take care....post back anytime...Scout~

Re: Strange one sided symptoms...help

Thanks Scout...I have been to the doctor about the other stuff but did not get the headache until after I left yesterday. I wonder if I should call and see if they will just schedule me for the MRI. I just hate calling them again...they already think I am crazy but I cant help it that I am having these symptoms.

I agree I am probably freaking out and making it worse. Hard not to though when seems so strange.

I have been seeing just a regular GP maybe I should schedule an appointment with a neuro. Couldnt hurt I guess.

Thanks again!

Re: Strange one sided symptoms...help

I recommend you see a chiropractor, one that specializes in the Atlas Orthogonal / cervical spine .. I have experienced similiar symptoms as yours and found great relief from these treatments .. let me know if you decide to go and your experience. Best of luck to you.

Re: Strange one sided symptoms...help

if you do request the MRI,mke certain it is with a contrasting agent. certain structures that just cannot be picked up in the brain at times becasue of location will most likely show up much more clearly WITH contrast. just a suggestion. they can also simply do an MRA at the very same time they are doing the MRI. this would pretty much at least clear any possibility of an arterial vascular malformation being the cause of your symptoms.

by the way, that loss of lordosis(the neck curve) is a very very common finding upon alot of peoples c spine MRIs and x rays. it just happens to some of us over time. injury early on in our lives can also reverse that curve too,and it would not take much if you were young when this type of hit or injury would have occured(this could also have been present at birth). then some people will gradually have this occur over time becasue of overly tight muscles. it just creates a 'pull' and can do this under the right circumstances. it does create a bit higher than the norm risk of causing a 'slipped' disc just becasue the vertebrae sit more 'stacked up" on themselves vs that natural curve that distributes the weight a bit more evenly. they can slip forwards or backwards depending. at least you have a clear c spine which would lead you to look at the brain next. it would be the next most logical step. it would not hurt tho at some point to simply scan that T spine too just to make certain that is also clear. but you do need that look into the brain bit more in depth at this point. please keep us posted on all things L. good luck,Marcia

Re: Strange one sided symptoms...help

Well I went to the doctor today and have an MRI with and without contrast scheduled for Friday morning. Thanks for the responses everyone...I am not going to the chiro anymore because I have caused myself to be able to crack my neck just by turning it which I hear is a bad thing.

Cant wait for all of this to go away!!!

Thanks everyone

Re: Strange one sided symptoms...help

Thanks so much Scout...I am trying not to think the worst but it is hard especially with the internet. Anxiety gets the best of me sometimes!

Thanks again...I will let you know what the MRI says.

Re: Strange one sided symptoms...help

Hi again,

I see that you mentioned you had been already seeing a chiropractor, which I am assuming was the standard chiropractor that uses the toggle method of treatment? I'm sorry to hear that it wasn't helping you. I can tell you from my own experience that when I went to a regular chiropractor, I too could hear my neck crackling just by turning it, which you are right, is not a good thing, ever. After much, much research and many specialists later, I stumbled upon once again the possibility of help from a specialized chiropractor, which I mentioned in my last entry to you. At first, I was very skeptical, figuring how's this going to help me ... but I had nothing to lose and everything to gain and so do you. Since I have been seeking treatment with this doctor, all my crackling has stopped. You see, my Atlas (C1 ) and C2 were out of alignment, possibly made worse by the first chiropractor I was seeing (which is very common). Because this chiropractic doctor specializes in a non forceful treatment known as Atlas Orthogonal, the treatments specifically target the necessary areas and can help treat many neck problems and various other problems throughout the body. I highly recommend you look for one of these specialists in your area .. lots of times they offer free consultations .. what do you have to lose?

Re: Strange one sided symptoms...help

Very true I dont have anything to lose. I have no clue what kind of chiro mine is...he actually is a good friend of my dads and always seems to know what he is doing. My dad has had some major neck problems and said the chiro never helped him...of course he ended up having surgery in the end but he had herniated disks and according to my MRI I dont have any of that.

I will look and see if I cant find a different kind of chiro in my area.

Thanks!!!

Re: Strange one sided symptoms...help

If your doctors have ruled out everything they can rule out, you might want to consider Lyme's disease....it is a multisytem disease which means you can have symptoms everywhere in your body. It's difficult to test for, but treated with antibiotics.

Re: Strange one sided symptoms...help

The doctor did mention Lyme the other day...not sure if they are running blood work for that or not.

Thanks

Re: Strange one sided symptoms...help

lsmith,

Doctors sometimes don't use the best tests for lyme, and no one test can be conclusive. Suggest you do some reading on the lyme boards for more info.

IF you have lyme, the sooner you start antibiotic treatment the better.

Re: Strange one sided symptoms...help

Well I had the MRI with and without contrast and...nothing. All came back normal which I guess I should be happy about. I just still dont understand why I feel this way. My doctor is still worried about my eye and is sending me to a neuro optamologist but cant get in until December which seems so long...I might try to get in somewhere else sooner because I had some double vision last night out of that eye and it freaked me out.

My doctor still is leaning toward headache but I just dont understand first why it is affecting my eye like this and second why the headache wont go away!! It is driving me nuts. Oh he also said my headache is not a typical headache.
