Is there any medicine or treatment to obtain at Health Food Stores to treat viruses which cause Labyrinthitis - nerve inflamation which causes hearing loss?

Re: Viruses-Labyrinthitis

Hi Joanna,

The short answer is no. If you think you really have something like this going on, go to the doctor and get proper treatment. If there is nerve inflammation (impossible to diagnose precisely unless you had Bell's Palsy or something like that) you would be put on a short course of steroids to stop the inflammation and reduce potential nerve damage.

Having said the above, studies don't show a lot of use for steroids in labyrinthitis. I'd probably insist on it anyway because I wish I'd had a dose of them when I got hit 5 years ago.

Best ... Scott
