I had Bells Palsy in 1991. I woke up with it.....lots of burning in my neck
and face and of course some beginning disfiguration. Then the numbness
and tingling shortly thereafter. My left eye would not close and so much
discomfort and numbness.
My severe symptoms lasted about 2 months....
Then subsided a bit but the pain still continued on the left side of my face
for about 6 months. It was so senstive to touch or pressure. The droopness
around the mouth stayed with me probably for about a little under a year
actually. Although being treated with meds in my case it took a long time.
Now these years later...almost 17 years I have no disfiguration at all.
So all and all I would say my symptoms even though decreasing lasted
a full year.
On my mom's side of the family she had 5 sibblings. All but one got
Bell's Palsy right around between 73 and 78 years old but as for me
I had mine when I was about 40 years old.
Last question for you.....have you been treated with any medications
specifically such as Presnisone? that is the medication that mostly
helped my symptoms back them. The med make my heart feel like it
was racing but all and all it helped.
