question about trazodone - Bipolar Disorder Message Board

I have been put on trazodone 50 mg's 3 pills throghout the evening.I am also on zoloft 50 mg's once a morning..My question is to anyone thats been on the trazodone..Did it make you feel nice and relaxed in the night time then the next day you would be shaky and hyper?This is what i am feeling lately.SP68

This actually is a common side effect of trazodone. Like many drugs, there is always the possibility of withdrawal, and those symptoms tend to be the opposite of what the drug does. Mention that to your doctor...you might benefit from lowering the dose a bit.

Yeah, I felt that way, too, except at night, I didn't even get relaxed, I'd just pass right out and fall dead asleep! Trazodone increased my anxiety and my severe mood swings attributed to hypoglycemia. I was wayyyy too hyper the next day.

I take it at night to sleep. It works great!

I took trazodone for 2-3 years at 100mg and at 150mg (started at 150, dropped to 100 about year later...) I never experienced any of the issues u mentioned below, untill an SSRI (Zoloft) was added..
at that time I was someone u didn't want to be around, unless...
you love being yelled at.. the ssri caused the irratibilty and all the other rotten things... Trazodone is a mild anti-depressant.. I've seen several doctor's mix Paxil or Zoloft with Trazodone.. (or wellbutrin xl and Trazodone.)
But i never recall being hyper the next morning, I only wish I was..

it seems that different companies that make the same drug, (if they have been around long enough, to become a generic) each seem to react differently, example, I took 100mg of a certain med I cation, within 2 hours I had to go to bed, nostops for anything, do not pass go and collect $200.. otherwise I would fall asleep on the spot... took a while for people to understand that... Yet, a 150mg, same drug, different manufacture, let me wide awake at night... so the only way I could take the drug is, 100mg+50mg..
