| Coping with work stress
Hi guys--
Well, things were going along pretty well but right now I am overburdened at work. I'm indexing a book that's really tough going, plus I have some other projects at varying stages of development that are going to be claiming a pretty healthy chunk of time. Then, on top of that, the company I freelance for e-mailed and wanted me to do a big project for them!
Well, this is how I have handled it so far: I e-mailed my boss and told her I was worried about not getting the index done on time, then I e-mailed the freelance people and insisted (they've really been hounding me to do this project) that I couldn't handle the workload right now.
So you'd think I'd be feeling relieved, but I'm not!
I have this irrational dread of missing a deadline, which is what will probably happen at work, and I'm worried about losing my freelance work, but I don't know why I'm worried, since I wouldn't care if they never sent me any other work!
WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME? I've done all the textbook/therapy recommendations to deal with this, and still I'm sitting here tied up in knots about it! Does anybody have any advice on how to relax?
Thanks for your help!
