I recently met a guy that I'm becoming close to... not relationship wise but friends. Anyway, I notice that he has these sudden episodes... like he can be all happy for about two weeks and then he goes into this bad mood swing for about another two weeks. He talks about how he beat up a guy and took on three guys at once and got them all down. He gets these big adrenlin rushes when he gets ****ed off and wont let me help him out. He blanked out a few times, but seemed ok when he came around so I didn't ask him about it. If anyone says the slighest thing wrong to him or looks at him in the wrong way he flips out. When he gets mad he gets mad... But then on his good days he is the sweetest person you would ever meet... still really serious but nice... hes never had an episode at me and I would like to keep it that way, but by judging on what I said does he seem bipolar?

Yes, it sounds very much like bipolar my mother is the same exact way, it also sounds like he has anxiety attacks if you can talk to him it would be best to go see a doc. they do have some very good meds. out there that will help him good luck

I've never had a violent spell in my life and I am most definitely bipolar. Type I Classic as a matter of fact. I'm not saying that some Bipolar's don't have violent spells, but angry behavor can also be a sign of a temperal lobe lesion - or alcoholism - or drug use.
Does he have periods of rapid speech? Crazy spending? Going for days without sleep? Keep looking on the internet for information with symptoms.
It's hard to diagnose someone online - especially when we're not exactly doctors!!

I'm not sure about spending. I do know however he don't sleep much.

I have a history of very violent spells, well not exactly spells, but if the wrong person said the wrong thing to me...boy oh boy were they in for it, I am also bipolar type 1 I never hit any person, i always took my anger out on things not other people, but they more then got the picture! It felt like a sudden rush of adrenaline, fight or flight, I almost always chose fight. Just in the last year has my doc been looking at bipolar, with a dx about 3 months ago.
