You sound about as frustrated as I used to be beFORE I finally got a correct diagnosis of type I Bipolar Disorder. They put me on anti-depressents, they put me on anti-psychotics, they put me on stuff to counteract the side effects of the other stuff.
But one thing that IS hard to accept is that we can have more than one chemical imbalance/mental issue/personality disorders, etc.
Like you being ADD and Bipolar with OCD.
Someone else may have cancer, diabetes & psoriasis!
Lots of meds either way, huh??
The neat thing about Bipolar is that
1) We don't have to drag around an oxygen tank.
2) We don't have to give ourselves a shot with a hypodermic needle every day
3) We don't have unsightly varicose veins
Unless you're biplar with cancer and are diabetic and have varicose veins!!
I guess that since it is our very brains are affected by the disease and by the meds we take in an effort to find the right one or combination, it is easier to forget that others have diseases too. Incurable ones just like ours. Maybe just as physically painful as ours is mentally painful...
If I had to do it over again I would have started volunteering at Hospice, or a Nursing Home to help me keep in perspective who difficult one life is in comparison with the others.
And I REALLY do not mean to say that you shouldn't feel the way you do... Lord knows I've been feeling sorry for myself for about the past 2-3 yrs while I couldn't work because of this stupid Bipolar Disorder.
Just keep in mind that you're not alone in your suffering. Keeping others in mind can sometimes keep you from dwelling too much on your own problems...
And come here anytime to gripe. Honest. I've been doing it forever, and someone always feels a bit better and cheers me up, and someone feels a bit worse and helps me put things in perspective!!
