I have none at all. I just want to stay in bed all day. I told my PDOC this and he did not really say much. I am on Depakote as well and Effexor. I have only been on the Depokote for about a month and just had it increased. MY DH is mad at me because I have a hard time doing anything around the house. Do you think this is normal and will it go away? Is there anything I can take to help give me energy like a supplement or something like that? Thanks!

I feel your DH’s pain.

My wife has BP and sitting still, staring out into space is what she does at times. Yes, it is frustrating at times. It’s overwhelming too. I work 40-60 hours a week and do most all the household chores too. For the one with out BP life can be rough.
However, after I found out that this was an illness and NOT just lazy life seems easier now. I still have to be the single parent of the house, the mother, the house cleaner, the cook, the wage earner, and a host of other items. But, I do have some support from other family members from time to time. They will volunteer to help with certain things. This is about 1-2 times every 6 months that I just need a little help.

The wife does cycle into a relative state of wellness from time to time.
If you and he are committed I would recommend finding a local support group to attend. To find one in your area just search (**** + support + your state) and you will find one. They offer practical help such as education, training, and one on one “talk” support.

I thought I was the only one with a wife that had BP until I found my group. There are millions!

I have no motivation either. My home is a MESS. My psychiatrist just gave me a new medicine (new for me), Provigil. It's a mild stimulant that's supposed to "perk me up," LOL. It's only been 3 days, so I don't know how it's working, but maybe you could ask about it.

I know the not wanting to get out of bed thing all too well. Try to take baby steps. Maybe do something for 5-10 minutes at a time. If possible, try to take a shower every day. Be patient with yourself. Sometimes it takes a little while to figure out the med mix that will help us. Provigil sounds like a good idea. I might try that myself. Does anyone know how much provigil costs and if insurance will pay for it? Thanks.
