disability will probably become a next situation for me, find out in march but, question is...difficulty... that is, i am lucky and have all that i require at this time but the necessities, no real expendatures ahead, and with just sylvester and i .. nice location with feescale and all, not bad as i have seen in other places..some are really bad, anyway, because of that, the ammount of stress on a budget isnt too bad, just, well, .. adjustment, is the factor. advise?

Hi Dancer,
I had not worked for 3 years before I was "officially" diagnosed nor had I applied for disability until then. I am an older woman and married so it is not as hard. I had been told almost everyone gets denied the first time. If that is so...then I lucky. They are only able to go back a year so it is good that you are doing it now. I needed the confirmation of getting disability to reaffirm to myself that I was not lazy & useless and really did have a medical / mental problem. The extent to which bipolar effects each individual is different. Reading these boards the last few days has really helped me. Good luck. Sagebrush
I am on disability and have been for more than 10 years. At first I was single. Just me and my dog. We did okay because of the extras we got. We got food stamps, medicare, and ssi because of our low income. We made it by okay.
Now because I am married (yes the wonderful man married me even knowing I'm bp) and my husband makes to much money I am not eligible for the extras but, I also don't need them now.
Don't limit yourself if you get on disability. Go find out everything that's available from your state and your county. You might be pleasantly surprised.
