I have a complaint!

My husband was dignosed in rehab that he is bipolor and they started him on some meds and said to find a pdr closer to home and they would do the follow up...

Well He called Feb 1st to see a dr and they booked him an apt for an evaluation for March 2nd...
His evaluation went real well and his next apt is March 29. with the lady that did the evaluation.. He doesnt get to see the Dr. untill April 13th....

I feel for people that are out of there minds with stress or god forbid something worse. and they try to reach out for help and then your told "Hang on for 4 to 6 weeks" and then we will address your problems.....

I just dont understand!!!!

thanks for listening
Meljo

Yes, It's so unfair. I suppose that unless you are rediculously wealthy, you have to deal with this kind of thing. I moved across the country in November, and had to wait until February for my first apt. And needless to say, I was stressed out of my mind, and had gynecological problems, and hormone swings, on top of everything else. My husband is a Professional, and we moved in order to advance his career. You might think that we would be able to get better and quicker care than that. By the time I actually got to the doctor, I was a mess. But I have learned to cope with my "swings" , I feel sorry for my family who are the ones who are really hurt by this. Sometimes I think that living with someone who is Bipolar is worse than being the one with the disease. I do feel relieved that at least my insurance will pay for me to see a P-doctor in our new state. Back home in California, we had to pay cash, our insurance just didn't cover it. What's funny is, my Mom doesn't understand why I have a hard time coping, she says "well, Jane Pauley has what you have, and she works and copes just fine!" I say, right Mom, she's rich and famous. I'm sure her p-doc makes house calls, too. Oh well, what are you gonna do? Just try and think positive, and not dwell on the negative. And if things get too bad, you can always to an E.R. and they will help you....Hang in there!!

Re: I have a complaint!

I can definitely relate. I went to the local clinic a few months ago (the only place for help where I lived) and filled out a "request for consideration for services". I was then told I'd hear from them in 4-6 weeks. Then despite the fact that I was about to completely fall apart, had no doctor to see, and no job -- they sent me a letter telling me that I was ineligible for services because : 1) I did not qualify because I did not meet the qualifications and or 2) I did not qualify for some other reason. I am not kidding. This is almost verbatim from the letter.

Thankfully, I had moved to a different county in the interim and am now getting back on meds.

I showed the letter to my shrink. He couldn't believe it. He made a copy of it and is going to show it to some kind of review board that he meets with. He said he would have called the place for me, except for the fact that I don't live there anymore and wouldn't go there to save my life.
