does lithium cause weight gain??
I was advised to take Lithium, but the doc said there is weight gain which would put me personally in a depression. Does it cause weight gain?

Most drugs used for BiPolar disorder cause weight gain...definaetly Lithium. I hope you can talk your Dr. into another drug perhaps Geodon, it has less effects on weight. gaining weight is hard enough but not being able to lose it because we are on meds is harder......Good luck....Kahlia

I was on Lithium for seven years. I gained 28 pounds and am struggling to move it.

I've been on lithium for 20 years, I'm 5'3" and weigh 125 lbs. At 50 that's pretty slim!
