bipolar and sex drive

How does bipolarism effect a person's sex drive? This is not a survey! Just any information you have on it or would like to share would be helpful!

Re: bipolar and sex drive

I do like your name. The wife and I go thru periods of none to some. Then a lot to none. Then from none to some and all over again. What a roller coaster.
God Bless

Re: bipolar and sex drive

Erectile function can be influenced by a plethora of things...

Certain medications certainly effect our moods...

Some can effect libido...

Is there some specific medication you're concerned about ~ or just wondering if bipolar effects libido on its own ???

As such, manic behavior trends towards sexual looseness ~ while erectile function remains a horse of a different color (although one would have to have a HUGE ego to compare oneself with a horse in THAT department)...

Re: bipolar and sex drive

All I can say is I think it may affect one's ability to maintain an erection. My boyfriend, who was recently diagnosed, complained that he was having a lot of difficulty and said things just weren't right. This is an ongoing issue, actually, which has been a big stumbling block for us. If you read up on it, I recall seeing that 10% who have ED have it because of psychological dissorders. The rest for other health issues. check on that.
