| Re: Obsessing about religion
Pat, it sounds like your chemicals are getting off balance, which your husband is witnessing in your unusual behavior and your doctor is trying to treat with meds. It is extremely common for bipolars when they get ill/off balance to obsess over religion, particularly if they have a religious background as you do. And yes, I've been there myself, twice.
Unfortunately, it takes time for most psych meds to kick in and really make a difference. In the meantime please try to remind yourself that you're not seeing the world clearly right now, and not to take your religious preocupations too seriously. When you become healthy, they'll subside and become truth based again, not fear based. Hang in there. I've been in your shoes and I know it's hard. For now, please listen to those who love you and can give you sound encouragement, like your husband and your priest. Remember, if you've given your life to Jesus, you belong to Him and no one, not even you, can take that away. There is no sin bad enough that you can do that will make Him decide you're no longer His child and no longer promised eternity with Him.
