Wellbutrin XL and Neurontin

I'm new to the boards. But I'm glad I joined because I think I can recieve alot of help and support here.

I've recently been taken off of Prozac and have switched to Wellbutrin XL and Neurontin. For now I'm only taking 150mg of the Wellbutrin and am being quickly pushed up to 1800mg of Neurontin. This is because of my suicidal tendencies at the beginning of the month. I started this treatment on the 2nd and have noticed a bit of difference, but not totally. I'm not suicidal at the moment, and I do notice a decrease in anxiety and irritability. I just wonder how this is going to affect me in the long run. On the second I have been diagnosed as Bipolar II and 2 years ago was diagnosed as Borderline Personality Disorder. It has been a ruff month so far. Have a new job for the summer, moving away come fall, and switching majors. I'm 22 by the way.

I'll keep everyone updated on my progress and treatment. Thanks for your time!

Re: Wellbutrin XL and Neurontin

Hi ! Derangea,

Welcome to the Bipolar message board ! I think you will find a lot of
information, and support ! The people here, are very caring and helpful.

I am so sorry to hear that you are having such a hard time, right now.
However, it seems that you are already better than you were, initially.

I was diagnosed as being Bipolar, years ago. Therefore, I have seen about
three BPDoctors. (They retired on me !)

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I take Wellbutrin, and I also
take Neurontin ! I just thought I would let you know we are taking the same
Meds., and I hope they work as well for you as they have for me !
And, I have been on both for several years.
And I hope to hear that you are feeling much better soon.

Let me hear from you, anytime..., That's what friends are for. I believe that
most of our friends do not understand what we are going through,
and even some of our family members do not have a clue...,
' Speaking from experience ! '

BTW, I have a Son your age. Sometimes I think I am the ' oldest Bipolar ' on here.lol.

Please do keep us posted.., Okay ?

I am here to listen, anytime,
Take Care,

Wishing You Well and Happy Days,
Gee Gee

Re: Wellbutrin XL and Neurontin

Thank You Gee Gee That really means alot to me. And I'm relieved to see that you are on the SAME meds as me and have been taking them for a long period of time. Phew, what a relief *L* I will definetely be keeping you updated on my progress, and vise versa.

Hows your son doing? I know all the people I know my age are already graduating and getting careers. I'm the only one lagging behind But oh well, I'll have an edge.

Thank you so much,
-D

Re: Wellbutrin XL and Neurontin

Hi ! D-

It's great to hear back from you. I am glad you are doing well.

I don't hear a lot about folks on this board talking about Neurontin much.
However, I do hear about Wellbutrin !

You mentioned anxiety, I suffer from anxiety, and panic attacks !
I have such a good repore with my Bipolar Doctor, and when I mentioned
to him, back over a year ago, that I had had a couple of panic attacks,
and I was very anxious.

HE started nameing off meds., and when he said, ' Lexapro ', I told him that
my GF's Mom had been taking Lexapro recently, and she was doing so much
better ! So, that's all it took........, I have been in 10mgs., of Lexapro for
over a year ! (I take it at bedtime).

My Hubby would tell you that Lexapro has been/is the Magic Med., for me !

I think that having a good relationship with our Doctors is a wonderful thing.
Do you agree ?
I really do love mine, and he listens to me, as well as I listen to him...,

Oh, about our Son Lee, actually he's 25 now ! I just realized this when you said you are 22 !
First of all, he had to grow up with three Sisters ! How rough could that be ?
We gave him every opportunity to go to college, just as we did the girls,
who Graduated at different colleges, with double majors !
But, Lee chose not to go to college, which he truly regrets now !

Lee messed up and got married, and he and his wife have two children...,
Julie is soon to be three, and Jessie is soon to be two.
BUT, he is getting in school in a couple of months !!!

Just remember.........., " It's never too late to go to school ! "
(I guess I sound like your Mom... ?)

So, you are so RIGHT, you will have that edge !

Take Care...., keep in touch, ok ?
Wishing You, Well and Happy Days...,
Gee Gee
