Troubled Waters..., fellow Bipolar friends..,

Hello to ALL,

I was just wondering...., does anyone think that us Bipolar people get more
stressed about bad weather, than the average bear ?

I am just nervy about this Hurricane Dennis ! It's too close for comfort !

My GHubby says that I am obcessed about the weather.
Duuuuuuh, so maybe I am.

I feel so weird, and it's hard to explain..., I try not to watch the News,
but it seems that as much as I try not to,
I seem to be drawn to it !

We are a bit over an hour, from the Gulf Coast, so if Dennis does hit
there, we will surely be affected, here.

We have friends and relatives who live on the Coast, and they are all trying
to figure out what to do, and when to do it !

I am just so glad I am not where I was last year when Ivan stirred everything
up ! My GHubby and I and our three Daughters were on a Cruise...,
WOW ! What a Trip that was ! We were dodging IVAN all the way.
I was so sick and had to stay so medicated as to NOT be a MANIC
basket case !

I hope I am not the only one who feels this way..., so let me know...,
Gee Gee

Yes, I think we're like cats and birds who sense a change in air pressure and react because we know what's coming before anyone else does.

It must have something to do with our hypersensitivity. My problem is that, even if my emotions remain in check, my allergies go haywire. And when you can't breathe, you're not exactly the most chipper person in the world. I'm not obsessed about the weather, but I have noticed this tendency in my life. Hated the East Coast, can't stand the boiling hot summers in my current town. Life was so idyllic when I lived in L.A. in the temperate part of the metro area. That is, it was idyllic when I wasn't depressed. And yet, I love a good rainy day and the occasional boom of thunder.

What really sets me on edge is wind. In the winter here on the edge of nowhere it just howls for days, and my anxiety kicks into high gear. Also durning severe summer storms, when it kicks up above 50 mph, I run window to window.
Other than that, I just don't like the humidity in summer.

Thinking of all of you in the south!

From Gee Gee, Hi ! Zbaby,
I think we sense a change in air pressure, and maybe we are more intuitive
than most folks, about this sort of things.

Hey ! IT is coming our way !
Interestingly enough, when I got up this morning, my sinus, allergies went
haywire for a while, til' I could get to some meds., for it !
I am not usually this nervy about bad weather, but now I can't seem to get
a grip with it, right now !

See, if this Hurricane hits the Coast, we could have at least 100 mileanhr.
winds here !

I am really worried about our Daughter who lives on the Coast. She just
bought a house, and she can see the beach from her yard !
(This is our Daughter who was recently diagnosed as Bipolar !)
She called last night, and talked to her Dad. I think she's just all up in the air,
trying to figure out what to do.

I will surely be glad when this is over !

Take Care, and Stay Well,
Thinking of You,
Gee Gee

PS. I did reply to you, a few minutes ago..., I hope I haven't hurt your
feelings in any way....,

From Gee Gee...., Hi keystone !
You sound like me, running from window to window ! I can't sit down..,
It looks like Dennis is headed straight for us. I know, they really don't know.
IF it hits the Coast, we could get at least 100mlanhr. winds !
Another thing that is so aggrivating, is if the weather gets really bad,
my GHubby will be right out there in IT !
He is a Fireman, First Responder, ENT ! So, I will be here with our doggie,
' Happy ', and our ***** Cat, Gracie.
Gracie will be out of sight and out of mind, but Happy will be right by my side,
so I am sure I will be alright, and taking extra meds., for sure !lol.

I think another thing that is in the back of my mind, I have been thrown into
a MANIC Episode, because of bad weather...,

THANKS for thinking about us down south !

Take Care..,
Gee Gee

Gee Gee - my bro and his family are in Florida, too. They're just hoping they don't have to live through another hurricane. Let us know how you're doing, 'kay?

First of all, Gee Gee, we are all keeping you in our thoughts during this awful weather. Hopefully it will miss you all.
I really seem to freak out with weather. I am in the midwest, pretty much in the middle of tornado alley. I HATE STORMS! My hubby will go outside and look at the sky and stuff... I just sit on the couch (or in the closet) and freak. Of course, then my IBS acts up. I get all nervous and sick to my stomach. And that is just when there is a "watch" out. Its no fun.

Hi Gee Gee :

I know how you "feel". I live in a southern most city on the Gulf. Sometime, we just have to know that we have done every thing possible in preperation for any hurricane. If we have had the forsight are chances are so much better. It is just like preparing for control over Bipolar Disorder. If we have taken our medication as directed, looked for oncoming "triggers" and have our selfesteam under control;than I "feel" we can weather any STORM !

You will be SAFE.

From Gee Gee, Hi ! Zbaby,
My Sister lives in Orlando ! She managed to ride out the ones last year,
thank heavens, and I think this one will miss her !
It's absolutely horrific for those folks down there. They haven't even gotten
their lives back from IVAN !
I will keep you posted......., I promise..,
Take Care..,

From Gee Gee, Hi ! MikeysWifey,

THANKS for thinking of us. They are saying now that New Orleans, LA.,
could be hit ! IF it is, IT would be a very sad state of affairs, and a
T-Total MESS, cuz it is at least 20ft., below sea level !

Would you believe that our two youngest Daughters are in New Orleans,
at a wedding, as we speak !
We tried to get them NOT to go, but they are grown, and what can I say ???
You know ?

WOW ! You sound just like ME !!!!! This is awesome, my Hubby goes outside
looking for a tornado, if we are under a warning TOO !
I am like you, I am usually in the hallway or the closet !
OMG, so You have IBS TOO ?

As I told someone else, if we do get really bad weather, I will be hear with
my doggie, Happy by my side. Our ***** Cat, Gracie will be nowhere to
be seen.
Anyway, my Hubby will be right out in the bad weather, since he is a Vol.,
Fireman, First Responder, and EMT !

Thanks for your concern.., I will keep you guys posted...,
Take Care,
Gee Gee

(Have you ever taken Levsin for your IBS ?) I was just diagnosed a few
months ago, and this stuff has been a life saver...,

Oh yeah, the IBS has plagued me for a few years. It's really fun isn't it! I don't really have troubles with it very often, only when I'm stressed. Which, I have been a lot lately, and I've had like 5 attacks in 2 days. Which, for me is a ton. It had been like 2 months since I'd had one before this week. I had actually thought maybe it was miraculously gone! Oh well. I just try to keep myself calm, which, with the mental health problems on top of normal everyday stressors, this is a feat in itself!
Its funny that you bring up your pets. We have 2 cats, Pickles and Gizmo. When my husband worked nights, I was alone in the house with them. There were several times I grabbed both of them and we spent some quality time in the closet. haha They didn't mind it much though, because I was frantically petting them. lol I guess that is how I was trying to calm down.
And something funny about my crazy husband... He is from close to Kansas, so he is used to tornadoes... storms dont phase him at all. A few weeks ago the tornado sirens were going off, but there was no storm close. So, like idiots of course, we went outside to look. At that time our neighbors came out to look too. So my husband (he's a bit of a computer geek) took our laptop accross the street to show them the radar online! We have a wireless network connecting the laptop to the computer, so he was still connected. I think we must have been a sight!!!
