Do any of you take anxiety meds in addition to mood stabilizers/AD's? If so, which ones?
I've just been incredibly on edge lately, and need to talk to my doc about it. I hate to take another med, but I am so tired of getting to a party or something and turning into a red-faced, sweaty mess. (It never used to happen--weird, huh?)
Any benzo is addictive. Klonopin taken on a regular basis is especially addictive. Trust me on this one, I had a neuro that decided that I needed to be on 4 mg of Klonopin per day. It turned me into a zombie. I am now down to 2 mg at bedtime and then if I have a panic attack I can take another during the day as needed. But talk to your doc. Try deeep breathing exercises. I have also found that cleaning my house eases my anxiety. My mother in law would be proud. Kim

Over a year ago, I was talking to my BPDoctor about anxiety and panic
attacks I was having. He started naming off different meds.,
and when he came to ' Lexapro ', I told him that my GF's Mom was taking
IT, and she was better in just a few days.
So, after telling him this, he asked if I would like to try it, (I agreed !),
so, he wrote out the script. for ' Lexapro ' !!
I take 10mgs., at night, and I could tell an immediate
difference, in less than a week !
My Hubby calls Lexapro my miracle med. ! Maybe you could talk to your
BPDoctor about this !

It's funny, I hadn't read your post until now, but I just got back from the doc and he prescribed lexapro. God, I hope it works.
But I am TERRIFIED of more weight gain--I've gained 40 pounds over the past few years and I cannot gain any more, I just cannot.
Did it make you gain weight?
Also, have you noticed a change in libido? I'm really scared about that, too.
Maybe it's just the anxiety, but I'm really upset about having to take this, and about what effects it will have.

Try not to be upset about weight gain, no..., I haven't gained weight, from
being on Lexapro.
What dosage are you taking ?

I really don't understand why you are so upset about taking Lexapro...,
I hope you will think positive, that usually helps..,
I take busperone a non addicting antianxiety because my doctor wont prescribe benzo's to me because I have a history of addiction to pills. Its just as well, although I cant help but feel jelous of goofyafter2 taking Xanax (no offence). It brings back such memories. I loved that zombie state of mind too. Its easier to feel numb sometimes then to feel.
