Question Which Part is "ME"

my husband is accepting the dx of bipolar; however, challenges what part of his experiences are really "him" -- he is intelligent, creative, spontaneous, caring, compassionate : or is that just a manic episode ? He has deep feelings and convictions re: his religion -- or are those just manic episodes?
He feels like he is putting on a front when he is at work or dealing with people - being professional and friendly because he is so tired and drained right now with the heat zapping the lithium and upsetting potassium levels -- which piece is "him" -- he hates the illness, so that 'part' isn't him .. but what is left ?

Re: Which Part is "ME"

good for you for reaching out for advice... and knowledge. that is probably the single most important thing next to being supportive. i don't know the answer to the which part is him question... but i would like to think that each part of me.. all of the aprts are parts of me that just come out at different times. good luck with discovering all there is to know about this illness.
