Topamax Tiredness... - Bipolar Disorder Message Board

I'm taking 100 mg Topamax 2 times a day. This is my 6th week. It's done good things for stabilizing my moods. However, I'm so sleepy I can hardly sit up. If I drink coffee, it helps some. I also take Prozac 60 mg. I'm thinking of asking my dr. if there is anything to offset this side effect of sleepiness since I don't want to give up the mood stabilization (I NEED it to function as well). Perhaps Provigil??? ANy ideas? I have little children and need to able to care for them!! Thanks for any help!

My doc said to try 1/2 of my med if I had problems or to skip a pill every other day.
Have you asked your doc for other meds or mg's? I can call my doc if I have problems can
you?
lithium 450 and wellbutrin 150 in the morning, and lithium 450 and seroquel 200 at night works for me.

well, with Topamax, I can't 1/2 or miss or even be late with any doses. It's dangerous, according to my dr it'a touchy stuff. I was hoping to just add something to offset the sleepiness side effect.
