Question my meds and my insurance

I was on symbyax and it was about $250 for 14 pills and was not covered by insurance. I had a relapse into one of my episodes while on symbyax. I was then switched to seroquel and had free samples. my doctor told me this rx was 1/2 the price of the other one. He was wrong... It's $550 and once again not covered by insurance. Needless to say I am discouraged to find a med that is covered by insurance. Out of curiousity I asked the pharmacy how much lithium would cost me without insurance and they said around $35. I am pretty sure my doctor will be putting me on lithium by friday. Is there any other meds that may be covered by insurance that are like seroquel but not as drastic as lithium? or what are the worst possible side effects, etc lithium can cause?
Any ideas will be helpful...Thanks.
Melissa

There are literally thousands of insurance plans. You need to call a customer support number for your specific insurance company and ask what products are on their formulary of covered drugs.

Also, I think that your pharmacy is charging way too much for these drugs; I recommend that if you need to purchase drugs without your insurance, that you call around and do a price comparision. Neither of those drugs should be running you that much for such a low quanitity of pills.
