| Re: Positive experiences with ins. companies?
I don't know if this will help, but I have two insurance policies, a primary and a secondary, and they both have websites where you can view a list of preferred providers. Neither one of them required registration to view the list. I know that has helped me tremendously in finding doctors of all kinds, and I've been happy with every one.
Check online with your insurance company to see, I'll bet they do. I have rinky-dink insurance, hence the two policies. So I would figure if they have a website, yours probably will, too. That is, if you have a PPO. If you have an HMO, I have no experience with that type of plan.
Today as I was talking to my psychiatrist, she was referring a counselor to me we were discussing insurance. She told me that a lot of mental health professionals stopped taking insurance all together and now leave it up to the patient to file his/her claim themselves. For some reason, she said, insurance companies either take forever to pay them, or don't pay them at all, even when they are required to as part of your policy. I was shocked and a little outraged. What a slap in the face, eh?
Good luck, and insurance companies can be a nightmare as I'm finding out for other things (they keep losing my stuff, etc.)
