Hi....most internists and family physicians prefer that you have your own psychiatrist perscribing and regulating your meds. That is, unless they were the ones to diagnose you.
We ran low on meds and couldn't get an appointment with the psychiatrist before the meds ran out for my daughter. It was a mess and our Pediatrician refused to perscribe. WE ended up having to get an emergency clinic appointment to cover us. You may want to check with your private physician and do the same if you are unable to have him perscribe for you.
