Re: Bipolar/Ambien/Lamictal ..a No No?
Panthers - My doctor feels that Lamictal and Ambien are completely fine together. I used them for a few years. (I'm bipolar II, btw). Anyway, I got addicted to the Ambien and started using it during the day, but I think that's pretty rare. Be careful to watch for things like you start to enjoy taking it and take it earlier and earlier (the Ambien), but as far as contraindications go, my doctor (who is very well-respected and has been in the practice a long time), feels that they are perfectly fine together. Good luck with your sleep! I know how much that sucks! Oh, I've only had permanent sleep help with things like anti-psychotics (zyprexa, risperdal). Tegretol has helped a lot with sleep, too, although it hasn't helped with the depression, as you'll see if you happen to glance at my first post on here. Anyway, you might want to talk to your doctor about a more permanent fix for the sleep issues, which commonly go along with bipolar. But, if this isn't chronic for you, Ambien might be a good choice. Ok, I'm done rambling. Good luck!
