I haven't posted on here in ages, but I HAVE to vent. My father's brother and his wife are out here from England at the moment, and their adopted son has bipolar, as do I. If I have to hear my uncle's wife say "all you have to do is pop your pills and you'll be fine" one more time I'm going to rip her head off with my bare hands

. If only it were that ******* easy. Take a pill and you'll be fine. Pfft whatever. Medication definitely helps...but it's definitely not the be-all and end-all, and just because you're on meds doesn't mean that life is going to be a bed of roses.
It just makes me SOOOO

when people totally devalue things like strength, insight, resilience and resourcefulness - things that are as important to recovery and maintenance as medication. It's almost like saying that the *****-fight it takes to pull yourself back together after an episode, and the strength that is needed to walk the tightrope when necessary, are worth absolutely nothing.
