who do i see to find out if my autisic son has it, as his always had mood swings, crying one min the next giggling for no resson his on prozac for anxiaty,any information would be grateful,also other memers of husbands family suffer from depression could ther be a link
Most likely a mental health/behavioral health clinic where your son could be evaluated by a psychiatist. We have some friends that have a child with Rett syndrome which is like a combo of autism/parkinsons that had mood swings and was placed on I believe respiridal which has helped her. Your son's doctor should be able to refer you in the right direction. Good Luck
Yes, you should definitely try to see a psychiatrist right off the bat. They are specialists. I wasted so much time seeing my pcp and tried so many meds (which only made me crazier). If your son is bipolar he should not be taking just the prozac alone. It could make his condition worse. I hope he feels better soon!
