Hello Board...I wanted to know if anyone knew anything about the Vagus Nerve Stimulation(VNS) treatment...My pschiatrist brought up the idea of me getting this procedure done and I have a few concerns...For those who arent too familiar with it-- VNS Therapy is a new approach to the long-term treatment of chronic or recurrent depression. The vagus nerve is one of the primary communication pathways from the major organs of the body to the brain. A device kinda like a pacemaker sends small pulses to the vagus nerve in the left side of the neck-The vagus nerve delivers these pulses directly to the brain. Im only 22 BUT I have been dealing with the endless battle of meds since I was 13 and not being on so many meds SOUNDS like a dream come true...BUT will it REALLY work?? This device is a permanent implant and that kinda freaks me out to be honest. Does it stick out from ur chest?? Is it noticeable?? What kind of results should I expect?? What kind of side effects should I expect??? BE HONEST would u consider getting something like this done?? Would u be comfortable if ur child wanted to get this done?? ANY insight would be wonderful...Thanks
