Mini seizures after going off meds - Bipolar Disorder Message Board

Hi, I've been having problems after stopping taking my mood stabilizer Trileptal. It's been about a month now since I've been off it, but right after I went off I started having these body tremors. At first I thought it was my heart beating irregularly, but after checking my pulse during one of these episodes I found this is not the case. It is like a full body tic, and during the episode I lose control of my body movements, but I don't lose consciousness. It only lasts minutes, but is really bothering me. I'm scared one will happen while I am driving a car and I will lose control, or they'll turn into full blown seizures. Does anyone have similar symptoms after stopping an anticonvulsant? Any help on the subject?

yOU MUST CALL YOUR DOC ON THIS ONE.you can possibly have a grand mal seizure, not to scare you. but this is serious stuff.

I would call my doctor, but my parents don't think it's a big deal. I'm 17 and have no insurance of my own so I can't just go to the doctor alone. Everyone thinks I'm a hypochondriac (including my doctor). My mother told me to wait until the next time I see my psychologist and insists that it's just my blood pressure or restless leg syndrome. Grrr...
